| Using the Most Sophisticated Computerized Lighting System
Ever Installed In Museum in India |

| Project Challenges : |
|
 |
Create a flexible lighting fixture configuration that will maximize the impact of displayed items. |
 |
The irregular shape of the space would require a flexible, high performance lighting system that will illuminate hard to reach areas while maintaining a low profile. |
 |
The lighting system must accommodate a broad range of luminaires and lamp types to deploy a variety of effective lighting applications throughout the building. |
 |
The lighting system should be easy to configure, install, operate and maintain during its usage |

Virasat-e-Khalsa is conceived as a repository of the rich heritage of the Khalsa, its history and culture of the Punjab so as to inspire visitors with the vision of the Gurus, emphasizing the eternal message of the great gurus for the whole mankind. |

The Khalsa Heritage Centre inaugurated by Chief Minister of Punjab S. Parkash Singh Badal on November 25, 2011 and designed by M/s Amar Bahel Design Habit, AV Consultant Kelvin Ashby King. |

Virasat-e-Khalsa is the only art gallery in the world equipped with such an intricately designed automated lighting control system.
The Programmable Networked System seamlessly links and integrates complex lighting features and building management functions to provide one centralized source of secure automated control.
Designing the system for the KHC required more than the typical configuration of lighting panels and automated software. It took a new level of flexibility and innovation to deliver one powerful system that could do it all.

Because the museum uses a unique combination of natural and electric light sources, it relied on M R S Corporation to provide different components of the overall lighting system.
It was M R S Corporation’s job to integrate the platforms and provide total lighting control. Lutron Electronics systems manage the museum’s Exhibits lightings, while the Medialone Showmaster controls the museum’s light dimming, audio system and video systems.
M R S Corporation provided the integration platform between Lutron systems and Medialone Showmaster. |

Natural Lighting Makes the KHC Unique |
|
|
Planning and design of the Khalsa Heritage Center began some ten years ago and construction has been underway for about seven years. This ambitious and massive project was at one point considered the largest construction project.
M R S Corporation became involved in the year November 2008 when the museum designer began defining some of the special lighting control specifications that would help distinguish the KHC Museum as one of the world’s premier galleries.
“A project of this magnitude requires a certain degree of flexibility, expertise, and perseverance. We made a commitment early on to do whatever it would take to make the KHC goals a reality. Modifications and finetuning were all part of the process. In the end, we delivered a state-of the-art system that integrated lighting and convenient control system.” |

| Easy Installation |
|
|
Rajesh Pathak, our project manager at KHC, Anandpur Sahib, headed the installation. The greatest challenge as he explains was coordination between various agencies, drafting of coordinated drawings, designing of DMX system for LED light, installation of lightings at the height of 14 meters from the floor level and establishing the interface between the Medialone Showmaster and the Lutron lighting control system.
It was a challenge, but not a problem. Starting with LUTRON lighting control system, the KHC installation quickly evolved into the second largest project M R S Corporation had ever attempted and certainly one of the most complex — integrating 800 different components, some 25 lighting panels and two universe.
“We designed the system in conjunction with M/s Amar Bahel Design Habit & T2 Consulting. Working with them has been a very good experience. We were flexible and responsive, willing to modify our system to accommodate the unique operating demands the KHC installation posed.
Support and backup for the entire KHC Centre is managed remotely. |
